Every time I do a paper model, I swear up and down that I will never do another one again. Who am I kidding, right? Since I will most likely create another model after the Sleeping Beauty Castle, what ideas do you have for the next model? I make no guarantees that I will do any that are suggested, but I find that there’s usually someone with a unique idea.
I typically like to do models related to the theme parks—there’s a ton a reference photos on the Internet. I tend to lean more towards Disneyland, too, because I can take reference photos of my own if need be.
Angular structures are prefered; they’re easier to do than a curved structure like a Doom Buggy. So to get the ball rolling, here’s my current list of ideas in no particular order:
- The Matterhorn (I’d love to do this one, but it’s too complicated)
- Moonliner (something simple for a change, and I could make it HUGE)
- Big Thunder train engine & cars (hmmm)

I’ve been getting some requests for photos of the completed castle model. I guess people want to use them as reference photos so they can begin building the model before the instructions are finished. I’m all for that, but I’ll have to reshoot a bunch of photos; the original photos were only used as part of the construction progress report, and have been deleted since then. My nephew is lurking about, so I can’t do it today; I was lucky to rescue my crumbling Tower of Terror model from him.
For those of you who insist on building the castle right now, you should know that a mod (short for ‘modification’) will be in the works.
The model currently resembles what the castle looks like today. With the mod, you’ll be able to have the alcove that was originally on the back side of the castle in 1955. If you’d rather have this little alcove, you should avoid building this section of the model until the mod comes out (sometime after the instructions are completed).

Rather than make everyone wait on the model pieces (which are finished), I will be releasing them all. That’s right, no more waiting for the instructions to be completed. If you study the pieces carefully, you can build the model immediately, but don’t blame me if you can’t figure something out—you’ll have to wait for the instructions (which will still be released incrementally).
I should have all of the pieces up sometime tonight. Get your clicking finger ready.

Okay, in my haste to get the first pieces of the Sleeping Beauty Castle model up, I didn’t double-check my work. There was a confusing spelling error on Instruction Page #2, and omitted piece numbers on Instruction Page #1. Fret not; all has been fixed.
"I just wanted to tell you how totally fantastic the intro was!! I've enjoyed your site for several years, but this year (2005) has DEFINITLY been the best. Keep it up."
