Well, despite my initial intentions, my vacation is officially over, not that I didn’t enjoy the break. I found that I just couldn’t stay away for very long.
I’m getting back into the habit of decorating and giving out candy at home this year. I stopped doing for a few years, and I always loved doing it (the neighborhood kids loved it, too), so I’m making a come-back. As a result, I’ve gotten into the Halloween spirit, which has spilled over to a new Haunted Experience design.
To make up for yet another year without the long-promised interactive Haunted Mansion, I’ve carried the haunting theme throughout the site. You’ll find HM icons, HM cursors, and an HM wallpaper. You can even expect an HM-themed Halloween treat.
I’m a little confused about the ‘icns’ icon format for Macs. All of my sources say that is a valid, standard Mac icon format. Yet, the instructions on the Disney Experience say otherwise. The person who submitted the instructions says the files have to be converted with a program. But every Web site that I come across (including the site of the icon program that I use) all say that the ‘icns’ icons that I’ve been designing should work just fine. And, I’ve never had a single complaint about compatibility issues.
So, my question is this: do any of you Mac users (especially OS X) out there have any problems with my icons? Do you really have to convert them before using them? Am I using a bad format, and should switch to either ‘bin’ or ‘rsc’? Let me know of your experiences, and be sure to include which OS you’re using/have used.
Maleficent has taken over the Haunted Experience! She’s transformed it into a wicked and frightful place for the Halloween season, and has greedily taken over the icons, mouse cursor, and wallpaper.
The Haunted Experience is taking a little vacation from the happy haunting grounds of the Haunted Mansion this year. The restless spirits have so much to do; they simply couldn’t finish in time, and they want everything to be dead-on.
